About me

I’m a change maker and a supporter, helper, teacher, and maker of change makers.

After spending almost a decade living in the Boston area, my wife and I decided to relocate our then young family to Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Why leave a great town like Boston for Atlantic Canada? First and foremost, it was about family. Both of us grew up in Fredericton and this brought us closer to moms and dads, and brothers and sisters. It was a big plus for our kids to be able to see their grandparents and cousins on a regular basis. Fredericton is a city (by New Brunswick standard), but is small. Our kids walked to school. My office (when I was in town) was in my house. Within 10 minutes of our house were hockey arenas, soccer fields, 2 universities, and access to 45 km of running and biking trails. We are minutes from the beautiful Saint John River and one of the region’s best farmers’ markets. It is also home to a globally recognized annual Jazz and Blues Festival. We are 20 minutes from a provincial park or an airport and an hour from some of the best salmon fishing on the planet  or the U.S. border. Within a two-hour drive are the world’s largest tides and the warmest Atlantic ocean beaches north of the Carolinas. Oh, and in these parts, you can operate a backyard rink for 4 solid months each winter…

It was a life decision, not a career move. It was something we wanted to do and we found a way to make it happen.

  1. Well put Kevin. All of us who moved away from Freddy Beach for bigger and better things after university had to live elsewhere to realize everything this region has to offer. The only thing you mention as a perk that I would disagree with is the fact you can have an outdoor rink for 4 months. 1 month would be fine with me.

    • True… few would want 4 months of that kind of winter (for me, it’s indicative of the ages and interests of my kids). The fact that we live somewhere where we can be home and have the time needed to maintain such a venture says something about the lifestyle we enjoy in Fred’town… I’ll bet you’d agree with that.
